Procurement Organization Analysis and Strategy Development
A state procurement department engaged Ikaso to conduct an analysis of workload, operational effectiveness, and salary competitiveness.
The Challenge
Analyzing causes for high turnover and identifying solutions to address the issue within a state department.
The Outcome
We conducted data analysis, organization and process reviews, external benchmarking, and staff interviews. Our team identified organizational issues, including problems with workload distribution, high turnover rates and salary disparities. We developed a path for improvement with 18 recommendations to foster team identity, cohesion, and purpose.
Values-Centered Approach
From the project’s outset, the State lacked a centralized data source. With curiosity and resilience, Ikaso identified a path to gather the necessary data. We listened diligently throughout interviews to understand staff complaints of being underpaid and overworked.
Highlighted Results
We identified a team within the department with the highest turnover rate. We found that this team had a significantly higher workload compared to other teams, despite having the lowest average salary when compared to internal and external benchmarks. Additionally, we noted a lack of salary and professional growth incentives.
